OOOMY GOD……….I have never been so shaken up by a movie that wasn’t explicitly horror….

    Your Name Engraved Herein

It was an interesting blend of mainstream aesthetics with a touch of style. In the same vein, it’s interesting to slot this into the category of BL when the film tried to breach out of fantasy for the female gaze into a much more contextualized reality of gay men and gay men when they’re older.

  • The Call

    The Call

The trailer was better than the movie imo. Tho I feel like it was already a big mistake to use the same song as the MASTERPIECE, the handmaids tale.

The concept was interesting but logically it didn’t try to make too much sense. I don’t think it was applying the butterfly effect theory or multi parallel worlds theory so it was kinda lazy and shallow with execution.

Emotionally I wasn’t rly moved and neither of the characters were that likable tbh. It was just ehhhhhh

  • Tenet

Oh my god motivation for eviscerating the world is as unimaginative and dumb as always...? But also the logic? None to be found. It wasn’t confusing in a cool cerebral way it was just confusing in a poorly thought out, how could they think this would work out way. My dudes this movie was corny

  • Soul

I’m still so fucked up over the film insinuating that our souls can be born with shame. Wtf bro

This is a Pixar adult movie. It still has optimism but it feels darker than the usual. And yea it was beautiful and it’s anti-message abt the meaning of life was teary and sweet but I finished the movie feeling unpleasantly heavy. Not to say it wasn’t good, it just didn’t give me the untroubled happiness that Pixar usually delivers 🥲

  • Bumblebee

Ya yknow I have range and i’m not gonna just report **films** lol. I love a good action CGI movie w a corny catchy nostalgic soundtrack. It’s kinda fun to see this movie retrospectively responding to the severe and classic male gaze-y era of sexy megan fox by joining the new wave of putting women in protag action roles. Like ok ya women can be badass too and not over sexualized, got it thank u.

Honestly, I think blunt hyper masc…

Ugh I love spectacle and action lol. I know there’s opportunity to talk abt dystopia blah blah blah we live in this dystopia rn blah blah blah but idc. This movie franchise is white as fuck and *colorblind* and simply not worth having a whole discussion on bc it’s been spoken abt at length when it came out. For me rn it’s just rly entertaining and well paced

  • Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba

    Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba

I’m such a sucker for shonen adventure anime!!! Some of the fighting scenes in this one were so elegant it literally made me tear up haha. Idk if quarantine is getting to me or I just need to accept that i’m kinda a weeb.

Also the clothing patterns were done with extra care. Now I want to own something green and brown checkered

  • House of Hummingbird

    House of Hummingbird

An amazing bittersweet melodrama that centers a tense and tender family dynamic with a dash of queer longing. I loved line about knowing people but wondering about how many of those people you truly understand.

I thought the way this movie handled wlw love for an older woman teacher was so elegant and real. There wasn’t anything inappropriate or exploitive about the relationship between eunhee and young-ji, but the attraction eunhee had for young-ju was palpable and illustrative of the…

  • The Half of It

    The Half of It

Lol I couldn’t even finish it?? It was so bad?? Everyone is so bland and unlikeable i’m so tired of watching movies that star PoC only to have them fall in love w a boring white person? Saving Face was so good and it was during the early 2000s “multicultural” era of race politics and it was still way better. Disappointed. Some people say “representation” politics can only be enjoyed when accepting scraps but this scrap sucks more than other ones

  • Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness

Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness

Watched this in the beginning of quarantine like everyone else. It was entertaining but I wasn’t as passionate as other people about it. I do love sort of ruminating realizing that people can live such extraordinarily different realities like this lol

Jokes aside everyone is soooo fucked up :/
