A lot of interesting things that never quite gels as a whole for me.
Christopher Abbott keeps making really interesting choices and is fast becoming one of my faves. Mia really gets to stretch from her usual schtick as well which is fun to watch.
Exceeds the hype.
All the things people are saying are true but not enough is being said about how Wilde directed the SHIT outta the film: the craft in all departments is firing on every cylinder, all in sync and perfectly measured for maximum effect.
The rhythm truly sings here above all else, a dance between camera, cut, performance, dialogue and music.
Wilde is, in her first feature, punching at a level Scorsese wasn't hitting 'til Mean Streets, yes I just compared those films, no I will not apologise. This movie is wonderful and demands repeat viewings.
