A whole hour of bloat arguably makes the adventure more colorful and memorable, but it also obliterates the pacing to the point of apathy towards the technically astounding finale. The score in said finale encapsulates the tone and mood of the film: it constantly switches from March of the Swiss Soldiers to Zimmer's new variation on the CRIMSON TIDE/GLADIATOR/PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN themes he's been regurgitating for years. It goes from playful to overly serious in a really inorganic way.
But Tonto is funny enough, and it's nice to see a megabudget western.
