    Godzilla was conceived as political commentary, coming off a near-decade of political and social unrest following (what was at the time) the most destructive weapon humanity could devise.     There's one part in this movie about 30 minutes in where what seems like hundreds of innocent Men, Women and Children get gunned down for what feels like forever. It's not fun, but it's filmed like it should be? Very much feels like a product of that edgy late 2000's era, and feels really gross watching it now. It captures none of the subject matter that made the original so good, and none of the cheese that made the sequels fun.
