    Pokémon Detective Pikachu

    ★★★½

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

In a world where Pokémon coexist with humans, Tim (Justice Smith) teams up with Pikachu to solve the mystery about his father's disappearance.

    The Highs
The Pokémon in this film look fantastic. It was such an immense joy to see my childhood realized on screen, and Pokémon Detective Pikachu is a nostalgia trip of the highest order. Almost all of the CGI is incredibly well done, and the Pokémon look exactly how I would imagine them to look in a…

    I Am Mother

    ½

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

A girl is raised by the robot "Mother", specifically designed to repopulate the Earth in the event of a massive calamity. Everything is changed when Mother's true purpose - and identity - is revealed by a mysterious stranger.

    The Highs

There is nothing remotely likable about Christine (Saoirse Ronan). Even the idea of a teen foregoing their given name because 'it's something her parents made up' is a pretentious pile of garbage.

The character of Lady Bird is annoying, selfish, pretentious, and derivative. She's fighting to 'be her own person'…

    Get Out

    ½

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Garbage in every sense of the word.

The script was unrealistic, insipid, and idiotic.

The acting was mediocre at best.

The story was an asinine amalgamation of a bunch of other idiotic plots.

People turning into robots because of hypnotism? Brain surgery in the basement? Transplanting one consciousness into another body?

I'm fairly certain that even SyFy movies have risen above this juvenile tripe.

    The score was flat-out annoying.

There was nothing horrifying, or even slightly shocking, about this film.…
