I heard of this movie many times, and may people regard it as their favorite movie, but personally, I found it a bit slow paced and cheesy.

Now the whole "vigilante/revenge against organized crime" plot was nothing special to me, but the way it's unraveled is quite unique. Law enforcement correctly pieces together what happened from crime scene evidence, and then there's a flashback confirming their theory. As an action junkie, I really liked those flashbacks as they were action…

So... I will say that the movie is nothing like I expected from watching the crash scene on Youtube. I thought this was going to be a "survive the disaster" type film but it's actually about the aftermath, investigation, and the effects of the crash, along with the personal struggles of Captain Whip (Denzel Washington). The unique Irish-esque art style of this movie really made the whole film an immersive visual trip. The way some scenes were drawn really made me feel like I was staring at an old parchment or a stained glass window. The story was really good too, based on old Irish legends about the real Book of Kells along with some mythology and folklore. This movie also tugged at my emotions, especially towards the end.
