The Eternal Daughter 2022
Had literally no idea until just now, after watching, that this is directly tied to characters from The Souvenir, which is a blind spot for me. Just thought it was a really good little gothically spooky movie about memory and family guilt! And it totally works like that!

Acerbic and bleak portrait of adolescence, but so well-crafted that it never overstays its welcome. Cast is superb, as scuzzy and gross as everyone and everything is you can tell it comes from a place of deep empathy, not aligned with its protagonist's superiority complex

Wendell & Wild 2022
Totally overwhelmed by how busy the production and narrative are here, could've chopped out one or two characters or (surprising!) plot points but it's beautiful and sincere like much of Selick's best work, I look forward to rewatching future Octobers!
