    Halloween II (1981)

I think we can all agree that horror sequels can usually a hit or miss, especially when the first is such a game-setter. Surprisingly however, I found Halloween II to be a worthy follow-up to the 1978 original which stays faithful enough while doing some things of it's own. Carpenter and Debra Hill write the screenplay again, though Rick Rosenthal is given the task of directing.

    Laurie Strode's…

    Halloween (1978)

With John Carpenter being one of my favourite cult icons, I felt it would be appropriate to watch the film that put him on the map as a horror director, with it being the appropriate time of year and all and all. For the most part, Halloween is still an effective slasher that shows Carpenter's early experience on display, and one that has spawned countless sequels, imitations and parodies.…

Just an update for everyone, that I'm going to be off Letterboxd for about a week or two, though I may still pop in now and again. Hoop-Tober wore me out a bit and I need to focus on my studies for the time being. Hope you all understand (which you likely will).

Oh, and Red Dead Redemption 2. Seriously, go out and buy it. Game's amazing.

    Halloween (2018)

Finally wrapping up this year's Hoop-Tober with the long-awaited return of The Shape. With the involvement of John Carpenter as a producer and David Gordon Green as a director, Halloween bills itself as the true follow-up to the 1978 original, completely ignoring and wiping the slate clean of the various sequels and remakes that have followed over time, and what a follow-up it is.

Decades after the infamous Haddonfield massacre, Laurie Strode has…

NOTE: This review has been edited and revised excessively over time to fit my changing style.

Yeah, I'll always have a soft spot for this one. The Thing stands as one of my all-time favourite sci-fi/horror films. Hell, I'd even consider it the best thing that John Carpenter ever did. This was my first ever exposure to the director's work, as well as Kurt Russell, and since…

    ★★★★½

NOTE: As of October 31st, one major actor name has been removed from this review for obvious reasons.

Edgar Wright has done it again.

I've always been a massive fan of his work since the Cornetto trilogy, so of course that Baby Driver was on my horizon for a good while. I knew I'd love it, but my expectations were surpassed immensely. Action-packed, well-cast, and brilliantly-directed from start to finish, it pretty much has everything I'd want in this kind…
