Despite my huge love for many of their works, I've not really been keeping up with Pixar's work lately (I think Toy Story 4 left me somewhat bitter), but I did get a chance to see this adorable little short film, which was one of several nominated for an Oscar (and for my money, this deserves the spot).

In an ironic twist, here's a work that departures from Pixar's usual stable of CG-animated productions, instead going for the traditionally-animated route.…

  • Zodiac

When it comes to true-crime stories, one case I've always been fascinated by more than others is that of the notorious Zodiac Killer, who unleashed a murderous reign of terror on the San Francisco Bay area in the late 60s.

As a result, it's quite surprising that it took me as long to see this as I did. David Fincher's Zodiac dives into the case deeper than any film before it, giving us a portrait not so much of the…

So yeah, this is on my feed. It was on at a friend's house so I had no choice to sit through it. Let's just say that the constant song covers were grating on my ears.

Definitely NOT my kind of film, but it obviously works for some people.

Will be back to regular activity very soon.

    The Thing (1982)

NOTE: This review has been edited and revised excessively over time to fit my changing style.

Yeah, I'll always have a soft spot for this one. The Thing stands as one of my all-time favourite sci-fi/horror films. Hell, I'd even consider it the best thing that John Carpenter ever did. This was my first ever exposure to the director's work, as well as Kurt Russell, and since…

    Baby Driver

Edgar Wright has done it again.

I've always been a massive fan of his work since the Cornetto trilogy, so of course that Baby Driver was on my horizon for a good while. I knew I'd love it, but my expectations were surpassed immensely. Action-packed, well-cast, and brilliantly-directed from start to finish, it pretty much has everything I'd want in this kind of film. It's simply a perfect example of my love for cinema.

Anyway, a young man nicknamed 'Baby'…
