It took me a long time to get around to it but having watched this now, I loved it. The one thing that puzzles me--all my life I've heard that the neorealist style in this was "documentary-like," and I don't see that at all--this is a very professional, well-acted, well-written film that seems like what it is, and it in no way seems like a documentary, except that it's in a very real setting. (Not a criticism at all.)

The Charge of the Light Brigade 1968
I've recently been delving into Tony Richardson, having not seen many of his films till recently. I find him interesting as a director kind of in between eras. CHARGE is the one that I've been finding an interesting curiosity to rewatch the last month or so. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde 1941
The 1941 remake by Victor Fleming of Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde is not better than its predecessor but different.
1. What I like: a lot of subtlety in the dialogue and acting. Tracy is very creepy in the piano scene. And Ingrid Bergman(who, I'll confess, is HOT in this film) seems to have done a performance here that inspired her daughter's in BLUE VELVET.
