This movie is so beautiful, just as I hoped when I first saw the trailer. A retelling of Beauty and the Beast with a twist - Suzu learns of a new online space called U, basically what Zuckerberg wanted the Metaverse to be, and within she is able to…

Wow. What a movie. I have so many chills and feelings right now.

The Wailing follows a police officer and dedicated father and family man as he tries to unravel the mystery behind a series of shocking murders occurring in the village. But he is merely stumbling in the dark, and finds things are much stranger than they first appear.

I cannot tell you much about this film without…

    HORRORx52: 2023 - Film #50
CATEGORY: #43. Short film. Under 5 minutes.

For the third short film on my Horrorx52 '23 list, I picked this one from CryptTV, The Birch. I watched quite a bit of CryptTV years back, probably when they first started making short films. However, at the time my anxiety was pretty high and I struggled a lot with horror, the fear, the jump scares, the gore. I found CryptTV a little extreme for me at that…

    CATEGORY: #41. ALTER short #2

Really well animated short film about a world that has undergone zombie apocalypse and found a way to give zombies their humanity back, although without any of the physical changes. Those remain.

We see a snippet of the life of a zombie couple, one trying to find peace and brightness where he can, the other resentful of where he is.

It's nice, though I feel it needs a little more to connect to the story. A nice snippet though.

I have been putting off watching this all year purely because I really have to be in the right mood for musicals. Well now it's December and I'd like to have this challenge wrapped up before 10th December so it was time, mood or not.

The start was rough, I had to get in the right headspace for "and suddenly, singing!" And the strange style of overacting musicals have and I wasn't…

Alright, Hooptober, what are you doing to me.

Every one of these characters are charicatures.
Female characters are dumb (poor Pigtails the Navigator couldn't find her way out of a paperbag) or "tough as nails" aloof badass (she's probably the most sensible person on this ship, which isn't saying much), and mostly just there to be objectified. Black characters are only there to sexually harrass…
