Pixar’s Elemental works as a charming mix of immigrant tale and forbidden love romantic comedy, that tells a mostly familiar story but does so in a visually inventive way and with a good amount of heart. It’s not quite up there with the studio’s best, but overall I enjoyed it!

Celine Song’s gorgeous debut film is a sweeping romantic drama that left me with a similar sense of longing as Lost in Translation. One of the year’s best, for sure.

TÁR 2022
TÁR is one of those films that quietly holds us in its grip for the entire 158 minute running time. A brilliantly made slow-burn film from writer-director Todd Field, carried by an incredible performance from Cate Blanchett as a ruthless conductor. So many layers and themes to unpack, as it plays into the current zeitgeist in such nuanced, thought-provoking ways.

Turning Red 2022
I kinda loved this. An animated coming of age movie that is extremely entertaining, while also, in true Pixar fashion, being built around a genuinely touching, heartfelt emotional core. It's adorable, funny and sweet, a balance that director Domee Shi pulls off effortlessly. The Toronto setting is just icing on the cake!
