This movie is a lot like the 1995 Tank Girl. It’s super campy and you can tell the studio wanted to change it to make it a bit more serious. It’s extremely silly and fun but it doesn’t quite fully commit to it. Some characters are kinda lame/poorly directed. The editing makes the fast narrative pace feel sluggish, and score is super serious when at moments it feels like it’s fighting a joke.
Not a terrible movie but it’s definitely a hot mess.
Edit: I did like it though. It’s a fun time.
Day 4 at Cannes Film Festival:
This has been my favorite movie of the festival so far. Nothing about this movie felt like a first feature film. The cinematography is absolutely stunning and really creative. Everything about it is gorgeous, between the ending shot, the near perfect symmetry of the wides, the insanely cool and unique lighting, and I could just go on and on.
