As someone who didn't particularly relate to much of what Saoirse Ronan's "Ladybird” goes through I found the film to be fairly lighthearted, heartwarming and surprisingly funny. There's no need to overstate its significance like some have by claiming that it more or less revolutionizes the genre, but it's well above most efforts.
