    Hello, My Name Is Doris

    ★★½

    I'm conflicted.

I don't know whether to be touched by the story of an older woman pursuing/crushing on a younger man, or creeped out by her stalker tendencies in effort to gain his affections. Sally Field does seem to conceal that worrying theme – though only slightly – enough that I enjoyed her performance, but in hindsight the lengths she goes to comes off more than simply "getting carried away" and something I couldn't ignore.

    Philadelphia

    ★★★

It takes a while to get to the point, and the timeline seems choppy and confusing with its strange tranistion shots, posing more as a thriller than a courtroom drama; despite that, the paired performances of Hanks and Washington saves the film from what could've been an unusual cross of genres.

    John Wick: Chapter 2

    ★★★½

If you're able to ignore bland acting from its leading role, the attempts of unnecessary comic relief, and not expect too much of the "matrix reunion" (they ripped the arse out of that one), and rather focus on the cool plot, well-choreographed action – without shaky cam, which is amazing in itself – and a cute dog, then John Wick: Chapter 2 will surely be a good piece of film to sit down to. Might have too, anyway, since there's sure to be a 3rd instalment down the road.

    Logan

    ★★★★½

As a darker, grittier, and more emotional adaption compared to other X-Men films, Logan delivers on a touching, yet painful end to a fantastic character and dedicated actor – despite the messy timeline and poor prequels, especially when they completely fucked Deadpool (thank god how that turned out) – and opens the door to a brand new character, and possible future films.
