This movie is a hidden gem.
It just owns. A premise so simple yet so layered. It’s from the ‘90s and it features a family, so divorce is a central plot point. While everyone is good here, Streep and Bacon are the core. Killer time.

A reminder that Dwayne Johnson used to be a joy to watch. His performance here is comedy gold; one of my favorite Rock performances.
Spoilers ahead.
I remember disliking this film immensely as a kid. Following the barn burner that is Signs with a monster fake-out frustrated me immensely. A bad ending can sour a movie. I was curious to see where this stood for me all these years later.
The Village has style. It has prolonged moments of beauty and tragedy, of terror and heart-break. Bryce Dallas Howard is absolutely incredible. Seriously good. The score and Roger Deakins elevate M Night’s pretty assured…
Saw this on the big screen for the 70th anniversary.
I adore this movie. It’s a romp with every bit of humor, pathos, and hijinks that you could possibly want. This is the lovely Audrey Hepburn at her best; a eye-catching part that it seems she was born to play. That final shot is a somber wonder.
