    Transformers: The Last Knight

    Probably the best Transformers movie in a decade. I was genuinely surprised. It was a pretty overloaded movie, but the stakes and the scale were staggering. The writers crafted a compelling story, which is something the franchise has been missing almost since it’s inception.

    I was really impressed with the perspective and filming techniques used in Searching. If I had watched this before the end of the year it would have been an honorable mention. John Cho delivered a compelling performance and I was highly invested in the mystery the whole time. I think this could have easily been a hokey ploy of a premise, but it was used to great effect.

    I was blown away by Blindspotting. This film captures so many themes so well, that I’m trying to figure out how they did it. If you want to know what it’s like to be persecuted for your race, judged for your mistakes or have your home town gentrified, I can’t think of a better source than Blindspotting.     Powerful and moving. Hard to watch but impossible to look away. I could feel the pain in Leo Dicaprio's performance. The affects of the wilderness were penetrating. I loved the movie and I hope Alejandro Innaritu gets his acclaim for it.
