Very disappointed by this. A modern take on the Ray Bradbury classic and from HBO Films? I had hoped we might finally see a solid adaptation of the book but the film muddies the waters too much and plays it’s themes too on the nose.

Whether intentional or not this movie is HILARIOUS! Its bad but in an enjoyable way. Some of the choices made in the writing made for most of the laughs, from strange small supernatural occurrences to dialog that has characters replying to other characters or reacting to events in ways that just doesn't make much sense. So, they added a rather long intro with no basis on the book, all new stuff. I was aware of that going in. Conceptually it makes sense. There is not enough material in the book to fill out a feature film AND Barbara is important to the story but isn't really featured much in the book.
