Cute, colourful animation and a few scenes that charmingly pay tribute to the games are let down by weak jokes, first-draft dialogue and a story so focused on cramming in as many references to the games as possible that it rushes frantically from set-piece to set-piece, never allowing its characters to develop beyond one-dimensional cutouts.
