Really felt the length of this one, and as much as I like Jack Nicholson, I can't weigh up if I'm meant to feel sorry for him or despise him with his mannerisms... overall a good watch, but not one I would rush back to.
Although, that dog is sooo cute! I wish there was more of him in the film
There may be a bit of bias with my love of Japanese cinema, but my word was this right up my alley. I can't believe I hadn't watched it sooner!
Eerie soundscapes coupled with exquisite black and white cinematography makes for a very effective ghost story, especially with the lighting and fog. I bet the darkness would look even more inky and endless if this was released in 4K.
Also wasn't expecting the story to go the way it did, so props for keeping me on my toes.
Can't wait to check out Onibabi, I hear that's equally fantastic too!
Everything about this remake is obnoxious - from the constant screaming to the action itself. But I guess that's just Rob Zombie's style of filmmaking, which as i've gotten older, I realise I don't like.
Music was good though.
And truth be told, this adaptation doesn't make Michael Myers any more sympathetic of a character with this attempt of a backstory.
I can only imagine how much worse the follow up to this will be...
