“Do you ever wonder why we exist?”
“No. What for?”
“Life is nothing like the movies, Fabelman.”
“But you got the girl!”
I hate school too Sam Fabelman. Everything I wanted it to be and more. Didn’t get to see Spielberg’s greatest works during their initial runs, but at least I got to see The Fabelmans (the latter part of his career is almost just as great).
A Spielberg movie about Spielberg is nothing if not the perfect love letter to art, particularly that greatest art in the world: cinema. But it’s also a terrifying reckoning with that art.
And that’s a wrap on cinema everyone. Had a good 100+ years. Everyone that contributed did wonderful, but it doesn’t get any better than this. Let’s pack it up and go home.
