    Much improved on second watch. The dense plotting plays better, but the messiness of the film also becomes clearer. Two specific moments of unmotivated character stupidity derail the impact of things. First is when Namor decides that, after having diplomatic breakthroughs with Shuri, his beef isn’t about the scientist and protecting vibraniun-rich nations from would-be conquerors. He just wants to wage war on the surface. That’s a switch, when he could have resolved things there.

    Really hoped to love this one. Not compelling enough to justify being that opaque. Ambiguity as needless affectation. The characters were treated with cynical dismissiveness such that the landing didn’t surprise or land at all.
    I was enjoying it, because it seemed to be leading to having a point, like a Twilight Zone episode (which is directly and indirectly referenced), until it turned out to be nothing, meaning nothing, and gaining insight into nothing.
