Sing Street 2016
It could have been structured a lot better. Although it follows a well known formular (very much to it's detriment, especially in the chliche-riddled first 20 minutes or so), the film still had weird pacing. The fantasy-scene of how the gig would go came only 10 minutes before the actual gig, which wasnt that dissimilar in tone and outcome. Felt like a Winding Refn Film but without the incredible visual finesse and without cliff martinez's scores . What you end up with is some purposeless gross out moments (which indeed were gross (although also a bit laughable at times (which maybe probably was intended?))) not one developed character, mediocre techincal aspects across the board and next to no sort of theme or substance. Plus, every film that has a scene of characters "playing videogames" like that, is a sin.
