My Cousin Vinny 1992
+consistently hilarious
+satisfyingly interweaves character drama & legal drama

-at one point a character in the woods is awoken by a terrible animal noise, which is revealed to be a screech owl. not only is this an ASININE distortion of the gentle, soothing, cute call of the screech owl, it is a confusing choice considering how many actual loud & fucked-up noises North American animals make - like, the night call of a red fox sounds like a screaming woman! I hope whoever made this creative decision has atoned for the damage they've done to the goodly screech owl's reputation. -
The Tinder Swindler 2022
A lot of this film hints at either a low budget or a quick turnaround - the film is 25% footage of interviews, 15% stock footage, 15% "recreated" scenes, and 40% footage of Tinder/Wechat - not to mention the fact that the film's premise is simply expanding upon a popular news story. But despite that, the film is still a fun watch. (Definitely recommend watching with people who will happily riff on "PETER HURT"/"PETER IS DOWN" with you.)
