One Piece: Mega Mecha Soldier of Karakuri Castle was suprisingly fun. Sadly it's not as great as the last movie(Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island), the animation especially. Uhm what did I just watched? I seriously have absolutely no clue. I think the best way to describe it is weird. I really liked the first act, the performance from Joaquin Phoenix is great and I find the set up really interesting. But the longer this film ran, the harder it became for me to focus on the film. You probably here that a lot about this movie but it's true, it's a MASTERPIECE and one of the best Sci-Fi/Horror movies of all time. Call it what you want, I call it one of my favourite movies of all time.
I adore the creature design from HR Giger it's something else and one of the big reasons why I love this movie. But the soundtrack, the atmosphere and the characters are also so amazing. Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley is just so badass.
I'm just a sucker for creature features and The Thing is one of my favorites, the fact that the gore and the practical effects are so incredible well made and still hold up 40 years after it's release makes it even better. The tension and the paranoia in this movie are insane, you never know who it is or what's going to happen next. The Thing is a masterpiece and doesn't lose any of its strength even after rewatching it multiple times.
