If you don't know what to expect from a Troma film then the first 10 minutes of this tell you everything you need to know! Everything is dialled up to 11, and it's all the better for it. As the saying goes, not for the easily offended. Surprisingly touching in places in amongst the absolute carnage.
Went into this with low expectations even though it is a much-lauded movie, as I previously viewed House, another 1985 comedy horror and hated it. Any doubts were quickly dispelled as I was treated to one of those rare treats where the comedy was funny, the horror was scary and the effects were, well, effective! I really enjoyed this - only downside was the portrayal of the main character, which felt a bit flat but this is only a very minor gripe. The turn here by Roddy McDowall is especially awesome. Highly recommended!
