This was absolutely bonkers and I loved it. What a way to kick off my next director deep dive. It's a glam rock opera in the spirit of Rocky Horror that parodies Phantom of the Opera and Faust. It's got some mad performances and some completely over the top costumes and dance numbers. It doesn't take itself seriously at all and it has mad fun, in style. I was not expecting this. It could have only been made in the seventies. I feel like De Palma is going to be an auteur of versatility and I'm looking forward to a real diversity in genre and approach.
