Bad Times at the El Royale

Entertaining to a point but grinds to a halt once Chris Hemsworth shows up. His character is not interesting, he’s not an interesting actor, and the whole thing peters out during what should’ve been the climax. That’s not to say it’s all Hemsworth’s fault but his character’s introduction and the direction the movie takes from that point are the most obvious of its many, many flaws. It’s not all bad, Jon Hamm, Jeff Bridges, Bill Pullman Jr (actually Lewis Pullman…

An almost perfect action movie that has, as I see it, only 2 flaws:

    1. The title is so pitifully generic and says nothing about the movie at all. The original title in Cantonese translates to something like Gou Fei Honorable Thief (Gou Fei is Chow Yun-Fat’s character, Jeff in the English subbed version). Honorable Thief is a good title! Keep that title! Just sharpie out the title on your DVD and scrawl in Honorable Thief or just JEFF.
