Wasn't really looking forward to this. Just wanted to see it because Hunt for the Wilderpeople was one of my absolute recent favorites. Glad I saw it. Not too much continuity from other films (or at least not noticeable to casual viewers), and lots, I mean heaps, of trademark Waititi humor.
The CGI occasionally got close to Matrix Revolutions territory but improved as the movies moves along. Everyone is perfect in it.
This feels like a Lord of the Rings mashup with Star Wars and a job application for Waititi to direct one of those sooner rather than later. I'm down.
