The bizarre accent Amanda Bynes uses as Sebastian is the greatest voice work of our generation.
“What’d you do over the long weekend, Madison?”
“Sobbed alone in a movie theater watching Brokeback Mountain, hbu?”
Damn, this was basically a first watch for me because my memory only has a few years’ worth of retention. I kind of thought I might like it less this time around, but it still hit hard for me, as indicated by the aforementioned sobbing.
Things I did remember: cowgirl Anne Hathaway
Things I definitely did not remember: the rapid-fire appearances of Linda Cardellini, Anna Faris, David Harbour, and Kate Mara in the third act

(To anyone mad that it was directed by a man (like I was): it was his idea and he took it to all the right people to get it made correctly. Also, a point the film makes is that it shouldn’t be entirely up to the oppressed to fix oppression, so male allies are nothing to balk at. Source: Geena Davis herself at the Q&A.)
