    2001: A Space Odyssey

I've finally realised a dream of mine: seeing this on the big screenThe way Kubrick wanted (apart from the restoration): dim lights for the first 2.46 minutes of black of the overture, the intermission titlework, "the end" titlework and the final "The Blue Danube".

The visceral and powerful visual impact of this film still leaves me speechless, just like the, by now textbook, match cut/transition "from bone to space station": all of our history happens in those ten seconds. Everything. It helps putting things in perspective.

Nothing compares to this film, nothing can.

The best "war movie" to date, in my option, so polished and pretty, with a consistent and beautiful colour palette; can movies about the worst human invention be so aesthetically pleasing?

    3. The Craft

Nothing against special effects but I love when actual props are…
