My partner and I stopped to get coffee on the way home after watching this movie. I was carrying our leftover popcorn, and the barista asked if we’d just come from the cinema, and why we’d seen. My partner said “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On”, and they said “What?”, and I said “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On”, and they said “What’s it about?” And before answering I had to ask “how online were you 12-15 years ago?” to understand how much detail was needed.

The experience of watching Blonde is deeply unsettling, and it doesn’t even do us the courtesy of being a horror film.
