JR.’s review published on Letterboxd:
It's a rollercoaster, I don't think anyone's gonna argue with that. I'll probably like it more on my second viewing, once I can soak up all the gothic and perverted details of Park's twisted imagination. The cast brings the perfect amount of sensitivity mixed with soap opera grandeur to fit into the world that Park creates. Nothing about the movie feels out of place, and thats an achievement. The costumes, production design, jet black comedy, they all not only fit well with one another but elevate the film as a whole. The mix of traditional Japanese with classical architecture speaks volumes about the world and the ideas behind it. Im gonna like this the more I think about it. You're gonna like it the sooner you watch it.
Update: Probably my favourite of the year.
