Aaron Hodgetts’s review published on Letterboxd:
my first experience with fassbinder and it was a very complex and thorough one at that.
i love how the film consistently gives you just enough time to throw around very menial lines of dialogue in your head to make your own judgements much like in conversation. it allows for a very much connection to these characters which face a tough moral dilemma.
In turn this meant that my opinions on these characters and the relationship they had was changing, as the film guided me in my thoughts and perceptions.
Add this cinematic thought process to some very brilliant lonely cinematography, stylised performances, and good editing and thoroughly impressed. will have to watch more fassbinder in the future!
