Poor Things 2023
Poor Things is both hilarious and at times, hilariously tragic. Set in a strangely Victorian future (or is it a strangely futuristic past?), with fantastic cinematography where every angle, color and set reflect Bellaβs story, this was a joy to watch. Through the eyes of childlike Bella, societal norms set on women are satirized and deconstructed. How would a woman live, if she had no preconceptions of what was expected of her?
Itβs also a futuristic take on Mary Shelleyβsβ¦

Wild Strawberries 1957
Rarely do I ever fall for a movie this hard on the first watch, but this was wonderful. There are so many layers and themes in this; loneliness, guilt, death, pain... Such a ride of emotions that filled me with both comfort and melancholia.
I look forward to watching more of Ingmar Bergman's filmography. -
Three Colours: Blue 1993
This film captures grief beautifully. It's understated yet burdened with a sadness so intimate the viewer feels like grieving alongside Julie.
Blue is beautiful, cold, filled with longing for the past and a desire to erase it.
This is one of those films I think I will always interpret differently depending on where I am in life. Masterful stylized realism.
