• Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla

    Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla

I was so worried that this would be bad like everyone said, but it was the opposite, it's my favorite in the whole series! No nonsense, great but simple characters, and the most awesome action in the whole franchise. Spacegodzilla is the coolest villain in literally anything ever, and he's also the most unique villain in the entire series since he has his own agenda and demonstrates a lot of intelligence.

Even more importantly, Little Godzilla is the cutest thing…

  • Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers

    Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers

Got pretty much exactly what I wanted out of this based on the title. Obviously this is trash but I love it anyway and it delivers everything it promises and then some. It was a fun time from start to finish and it's really short too so it doesn't overstay it's welcome. If the title interests you, you'll probably like this, and I'll definitely be revisiting this in the future.

  • Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II

    Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II

While the poster for this film is one of the coolest things I've ever seen, this didn't quite live up to it. While this film does a lot right by having another great set of human characters and phenomenal monster action, it's a little too long and really dragged by the end. It's unfortunate because a lot of awesome stuff happens in this movie, but there's not enough going on to justify the length and the film's suffers as a result.

Still a very good movie that I'd happily watch again, but a step down from the previous film for sure.

  • The Mask

    The Mask

I really enjoyed this, Jim Carrey is great as always and the chaotic lunacy of The Mask allows him to play to his strengths and flex himself as an actor when he is switching between being Ipkiss and The Mask. The story is about as generic as possible though, and I wish this movie was at least more violent and closer to the comics because that could have made this a bit more exciting.

Overall this is a fun time that is entirely carried by Jim Carrey's performance. I would definitely watch this again, but it's not much more than a fun time.

  • Godzilla vs. Mothra

    Godzilla vs. Mothra

A top tier Godzilla film from start to finish, mostly because Mothra is the star of the show here (and also the best kaiju). The human plotline starts off like Indiana Jones and hammers home the environmental message before quickly taking a backseat to some truly epic kaiju battles that make up a majority of the runtime, which doesn't happen often.

I loved this from start to finish, it's got some of the most memorable characters in the franchise so far and has all the great Mothra lore, action, and music that I could hope for.

  • Prey

    Predator Ranked

After marathoning the previous four Predator films I feel comfortable saying this is up there with the best of them. I watched the Comanche dub which is awesome that it even exists and added to the immersion of the film. Naru is an excellent character and her development throughout the film is reminiscent of the first film with its effective simplicity.

The Predator action is awesome and there's tons of sick kills with phenomenal effects, and the Predator…

  • The Predator

    The Predator

Honestly confused at how much hate this movie gets. While it is very different from the other Predator films I think it takes a bold new direction and does a lot to make the series feel fresh. While there are moments in this that don't work, I think that most of this film is pretty strong and the comedic elements complement the story well and help to flesh out an impressive cast of characters.

I was also surprised at how…

  • Predators

For the longest time I had considered this the best Predator movie, but not anymore. While the setup is perfect and the execution is great, this movie meanders a little too much and also feels a little too safe. While there's solid Predator action, a good and diverse cast of characters, and some great effects that still hold up well, this movie feels like it's missing the charm that the first two films had.

  • Predator 2

    Predator 2

I hated this movie when I watched it back in 2018, but wow I turned around on this film. I absolutely adored every minute of it this time around. The satire was completely lost on me the first time I saw it, and I thought this movie was horrendously boring.

Not this time though, as this flew by even faster than the first film did, and the satire felt straight out of a Verhoeven film. I am tempted to put…

  • Predator

Enjoyed this much more the second time! I think that my first viewing back in 2018 was hindered by astronomically high and different expectations from what this movie actually was since I had wanted to see it for over a decade at that point. This is an incredibly solid and well-made horror action hybrid that has a perfect three act structure and uses its runtime to the fullest.

The effects for the most part hold up exceptionally well, and this…

  • Bullet Train

    Bullet Train

Everything I wanted it to be and more! Bullet Train is an absolute blast from start to finish and it is packed with great action, memorable characters, and excellent comedy. Just when I thought I had this movie all figured out, they would throw in more details to keep things interesting and everything is so tight and carefully planned that it never feels out of left field.

Everyone in this movie is great, which I'm glad to say since I…

  • Marcel the Shell with Shoes On

Marcel the Shell with Shoes On

Cried like a baby watching this more than any other film this year. Such a unique and powerful film that is also simple and fun enough that I genuinely think that kids and families could get a lot out of this too. Loved every minute of this and I really want to watch it again. This more than lived up the hype.
