look. this is objectively a good movie. it's well-made and does some good things. but as a sequel to pacific rim love of my life one of my favourite movies ever? hmm. i won't get into detail but i thought there were a lot of little missed opportunities in the plot, a lot of cool worldbuilding lost in the noise. but i enjoyed it and that's what matters.
god this sure is a wes anderson movie huh. i'm not usually huge on animated films or animal films but this is incredibly bloody good and just an awful amount of fun, really. it's got that perfect blend of surrealism and refusing to acknowledge it at all, which gives it a lot of charm. also, jarvis cocker is there. good stuff.
