Spielberg knows how to get you invested in a story and make something fun, there's no denying that even if does have that awful ending.

This was ridiculously dumb and painfully awful in a way only Michael Bay could achieve. Can't believe my audience kept clapping for these insanely unlikeable protagonists who lack redeeming qualities, moral complexities or even basic motivations.

I didn't seem to hate this as much as a lot of people. Sure it's got more characters than it knows what to do with, and the way the story unfolds is muddled and unfocused, but it's stupid and doesn't shy away from being stupid, and the cast is absolutely phenomenal all around.
