This movie ended just like The Babadook did, and I really really really disliked The Babadook because of its ending.
I rambled about my thoughts on the film here on Twitter. In general though, I think I like Stephen King adaptations which toss out the mysticism. 2017’s It had minimal amounts of supernatural baggage, and this sequel (as one should expect) had sort of too much of it. There are flashbacks abound, and though it’s all central to the plot, it still felt like it was really dragging. The adult Losers Club doesn’t quite sell it as well as their younger counterparts do.
It’s not all bad though! Bill Hader is still incredible. Go see the movie, at least for him.
