The Hound of the Baskervilles ★★★½

Aside from the cornsyrup blood, I’d say The Hounds of Baskerville has aged quite well. Peter Cushing brilliantly fits in the Sherlock role, and while the the supporting cast isn’t particularly raveworthy, the attention to atmosphere and consistent pacing really helps lift the film greatly above Sir Conan Doyle’s original tale. Hammer Films Productions, the studio responsible for a great deal of memorable classic horror films, adapts this foundational Sherlock story quite well actually—all good all around.
