I love that after all the fucking s&m shit he puts her through in this movie he gets confused when she wants anal. This movie is so morally ambiguous that it almost becomes melodramatic once over. What a confusing movie but also just so entertaining and politically interesting.
I think I just kind of love everything Mike Leigh does. The dialogue is always fantastic and this one ends right when it needs to. Ruth Sheen eats up the screen, of course, and it was so good to be back in a theater with people laughing at a kind of movie I’ve only watched alone thus far. So contained yet also so truthful about the humanity.
I’m so sorry, I tried so hard to be a Lin-Manuel Miranda hater but I am physically unable to continue the agenda with this movie. Andrew Garfield and Robin De Jesús have amazing chemistry, the songs aren’t corny, and the film is so energizing as a whole. Also the cameos make it feel fun and revitalize scenes that need it. I would watch this again quickly. Ugh, just fun.
Tons of fun! Definitely a new favorite for PTA. Just so warm and full of love. I could’ve stayed here forever. The Let Me Roll It needle drop was peak and Cooper Hoffman ran the equivalent of a 5K in this movie. Supporting cast was unbeatable and Alana Haim deserves whatever award nominations she may get.
