almost went with a 3.5 due to the lack of characterization and just simply not feeling like I “loved” it by the time it was over, but the craft here is just impeccable. does a fantastic job at gripping you with brute force and lets you simmer in both the glimmers of hope and the absolute hell presented in the action sequences. bleak, miserable, relentless. a hell of a film.
