Great Movie Musicals

They sure don't make 'em like they used to...

As a huge fan of musical theatre I've always been interested in the movie musical. The sad thing being that most of the time in the translation from stage to screen something is lost. Perhaps theatre requires so much more suspension of disbelief that it's much easier to accept people breaking out into song? Regardless, despite my love for musicals there are very few musicals on film that I can say I genuinely enjoy.

Sure, there are the classics, that you have to see simply because of what they are (looking at you West Side Story), but here's a collection of musical films that are not only full of great songs, but that I actually came away from enjoying and wanting to see again.
