The ride was a little shaky taking off, as this is definitely more of a 2-hour movie than a 6-part series, but Ewan McGregor is in perfect form and that finale is arguably the best post-OG trilogy offering I’ve seen thus far. The final two episodes are fantastic, giving us some exceptional Vader/Anakin/Obi-Wan moments, but the finale is a perfect distillation of what Star Wars represents. It helps that this feels properly cinematic in comparison to the first 4 episodes.…

It's a film that doesn't show all that's on its mind right away. It takes the time to tell something meaningful about the humanity and war. The photography is absolutely stunning. It's easy to see Kubrick's precise direction. It's some of his best work. The execution scene gave me chills: the drums beating loudly, building up that abrupt crescendo is anxiety-inducing.
