Y’know, I’m tired of these overly self aware, in-your-face cameo fests just as much as the next guy but this movie has a (mind you, very brief, like blink and you’ll miss it) Butthead cameo, more specifically, Senator Butthead, and well… you guys know how much I love Beavis and Butthead. So I’ll give this movie a pass.
And just for the record, I hope senator Butthead wins the election. He’s got my vote.

I don’t think I’ve had a more lively theater experience in my life. The laughing, the crying, the pure joy— not to mention just how utterly hypnotized I was by the last hour. Despite some rather questionable choices story wise and the film looking kind of bland visually, this film really hit all the right notes for me. This is a deeply honest, grounded story about grief and healing. A somber and calm, yet loud and freeing coming-of-age that deals with really sensitive topics in such a carefully empathetic way. It feels so incredibly real because well— it kinda is. Sooo great.
