AdmitOne’s review published on Letterboxd:
In a welcome comeback role, Eddie Murphy works hard to command the screen in this spirited tribute biopic of Rudy Ray Moore, a comedic performer and blaxploitation star who will mean a whole lot more to black audiences than he did to me. Sorry, I hadn’t heard of him and am unconvinced by the credits claiming Dolemite broke all box office records and that Moore was effectively the godfather of rap, although clearly he had his admirers. Great to see Wesley Snipes here too as really he hasn’t been in anything that’s registered since Blade:Trinity. He’s memorable here with some fun scenes opposite Murphy. It’s well paced and entertaining with a great, funky soundtrack.
