"Nobody stores cotton candy like this!"

Watched for Hooptober Se7en, film 22/33. Several cars' worth of teens are necking at a make-out point (as they were wont to do into the late 80s, I guess). This spot is so popular that a pair of ice cream truck drivers make it a regular stop to solicit business. Its pretty wild that this lovers' lane doesn't get busted, but when we meet the town's police their ineptitude speaks volumes.

    While taking a…

Watched for Hooptober Se7en, film 05/33. "This is something that nobody has ever heard about and nobody has ever seen before." Having your character say this in a remake is too on the nose, but behold! Romeo, Savini, and co. were right. A really good redo!

Barbara is new and improved and Tony Todd can't be denied. The updates from the original are smart and the coda is a nice touch (what Savini calls "a bit of a sequel at…

I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer

A carnival prank gone wrong causes a hook-wielding, rain slicker afficiando to chase and murder a group of Utahns.

With writing as light as its budget, IAKWYDLS struggles to meet its already brief 74-minute runtime. The plot is nonsensical, and motivations nonexistent—as an offshoot of the IKWYDLS series, why is the Fisherman now a zombie who kills randos?

Many issues plague this direct-to-video release, supposedly as result of a two week preproduction period. Lazy directing, shoestring production design, and atrocious…

In this film, film students shooting a slasher pic are picked off by a shooter-slash-slasher of film students.

Subpar sequel in the poor man's Scream series by Bryan Singer's bff. Glad we got the continuing adventures of Pam Grier superfan, Reese, though.

    Hooptober 8 film 8/34.

Imagine Todd Phillips smearing the white grease paint onto his face while he stares in the mirror. You know he actually did it at some point, right?

    The Scooby-Doo Project

Animated/live action hybrid parodying Scooby-Doo and The Blair Witch Project. Plays like a POV ep of the cartoon with bickering and an abruptly dark ending. Originally aired on Halloween '99 on Cartoon Network.

    Hooptober 8 film 6/34.
