Marcel the Shell with Shoes On

    Absolutely friggin delightful.

Sweet and funny and poignant and just adorable.

  • Nope

His stuff gets SO HYPED and this one is another just whatever from me.

It’s not bad, but just fine. Not sure why everyone slurping it up so much. If it wasn’t for the monkey story being forced in there would be nearly nothing happening until the last act.

  • Thor: Love and Thunder

    Thor: Love and Thunder

    This thing is a mess.

Way, way, way too jokey. I love Taika Waititi but he’s just unchecked and unhinged here. The first half feels like it’s just a series of bits and sketches.

Story and pacing is choppy as hell and numerous moments of really dumb logic/reasoning that don’t make sense. One of those rare times where you wish there were more exposition to explain what is even happening.

Bale is really enjoyable but he’s on screen for maybe 10 minutes total.

  • Ms. Marvel

    Ms. Marvel

Entertaining and well done but essentially just a six episode origin story. They abandon the fun and fresh style from first two episodes and only return to it until the finale.

Solid performances but overall pretty clunky story.

  • Murder on the Orient Express

    Murder on the Orient Express

With all due respect to Mr Branagh, just watch the original.

  • Audrey

Is it so much to ask for an Audrey in my life?

Sweet quirky smart kind gorgeous talented and biggest star in the world that’s sadly still melancholy and didn’t feel loved it’s a wild story.

It’s pretty comprehensive so it kind of blows through the bigger and more significant moments of her career but i supposed that’s all been there done that.

  • Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers

    Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers

In college a friend and I went to see Harold & kumar on a whim expecting it to be a dumb waste of time and it turned out to be a really funny good experience and memory.

    That’s this movie.

Very surprised it came from present day Disney. Self referential and meta and clever.

  • Obi-Wan Kenobi

    Obi-Wan Kenobi

Started promising but man what a pile of trash this turned out to be.

Horrible writing and contrived plots. Pretty bad performances besides Ewan and one or two others.

  • Turning Red

    Turning Red

Quite certain all the period riffs have been made here at this point so I’ll just say this was delightful and move on.

  • The House

    The House

Eggers but make it stop motion.

So wonderfully weird and dark. Great craft at play with the stop motion.

  • George Carlin's American Dream

    George Carlin's American Dream

    Truly amazing.

Was glad to see how comprehensive it was, not just a greatest hits clip show about different bits but rather how he reinvented himself and was so amazingly dead on about what was (and strangely still is) happening in culture and society.

  • Top Gun: Maverick

    Top Gun: Maverick

Exactly what it needs to be. Simple plot. Flying action/footage is unreal.

They fly around and it’s like whoooooossshhh and then WHOA and pewpewpewpewpewBOOSH! And guhhhawoww!
