Letterboxd — Your life in film

I wasn't super interested in more of these, until I saw that Jimmy Stewart was in this one. Maybe not quite as well made as the first outing, but I found this more enjoyable. Certainly more funny. Feel like they are hitting a stride.

Not great, but good. A little better than average, I suppose. Reminded me of Garden State in a philosophical fluff way. Sometimes the characters are overly quaint, but I think the film is self-aware about that. There’s some satire as well. Kind of an indictment on True Crime, but not all that scathing.

Faithful remake of Le Corbeau, but certainly has that Preminger flair.

First proper watching. As a monster kid, I think I was annoyed it wasn’t a horror movie so I was never in a rush to see it. I wonder what it would have been like if Sam Raimi had directed it, because there is a lot of Evil Dead stuff here. Fun, if cliched.

I have the same shirt Linklater wears in his diagnosis scene, and I felt hyper-represented.

Story isn't much, but it is directed and shot great.

Engaging documentary about Melvin Van Peebles. Good, but feels like a mid-2000s special feature doc.

Had a copy of this laying around for almost 2 decades, finally got around to it when a podcast I listen to recommended it. Nice watch. Quick, lean, classic Sturges.

An entertaining prison noir. The scenes where Duff and Lupino argue are enhanced with the subtext of their marriage.
