    My all-time favorite journalism movie. It’s the third installment in my perfect comedy trifecta, also including Some Like It Hot and Young Frankenstein. The dialogue and chacterizations have been inspiring my own writing for years.

    For sure loved this even more than Nashville. This movie is practically a masterpiece. Both Shelley Duvall and Sissy Spacek give phenomenal performances (way better than the Stephen King films they’re often associated with), and the psychology and franticness of the plot will keep you white-knuckled and alert until the final minutes. The beginning runs a bit slow for me, and most of it could probably be cut down. But everyone who loves cinema should admire the artistry of this picture like they would one in the Louvre.

    Whenever a movie comes that has the potential to change the game of filmmaking forever, critics universally tarnish and bludgeon and butcher it to make sure nothing like it will ever exist again.     The second Marilyn Monroe movie I ever saw and probably the one that kept me watching her other movies. With that said, the racism and rape-i-ness of this particular film kind of takes me out of it. Beautiful performance from Monroe and Robert Mitchum. Gorgeous wide shots too of the Canadian countryside.
