Don't really know what to think of it. I've always said that taking a risk and making something interesting with different elements than what we are used to is better than taking no risk at all but... while I'm glad the risk was taken, I'm not sure that it pays off here.
This is a classic case of cry me a river story that uses fake-deep dialogues and representative metaphors to seem smart, while at the same time hammering on the emotional manipulation (which here, at least I thought, obviously doesn't work because the backbone of the story and characters itself is very weak - and I cannot feel anything other than rage when I see gaslighting, abuse and manipulation shown). The cinematography isn't that great either. I feel as gaslit as Jane was.
